Description:
I’m Ginger, a 7 year old (my birthday is April 19, 2003) buff female cocker spaniel who came to CSAC from the York County SPCA in Pennsylvania. I’m a former puppy mill girl who was seized by Animal Control not a moment too soon. I was in rough shape, with bad teeth and sores on my skin. The shelter did a dental and removed 20 teeth (ouch!), and the skin issues have all cleared up. I am up to date on my vaccinations and have been spayed. If I do say so myself, I am quite the sweetest cocker girl you ever hope to meet.
I was so scared when my foster mom came to get me at the kennel that they had to carry me to her car. I didn’t know anything about walking on a leash. I am just beginning to be confident and trusting enough to walk on a leash easily, to put my nose down to sniff the grass, to not move away when someone passes close, to accept pats without cringing. My foster mother says she loves that I now greet her with a lot of wiggle-butting and squealing, but still from a safe distance. Housetraining is still an ongoing education process. I make it through the night with seldom a problem; but I am still trying to get the hang of it and would love to have a fenced yard where I could be put out immediately and could explore on my own time. I love to watch TV (Animal Planet is my favorite), and I even don’t mind humans walking around me while I watch.
I have been through a lot but I would love to have my own home and family. If you have a quiet household (I still spook a little at sudden sounds and sights), a lot of time and patience, maybe a human who is home some during the day, and preferably a fenced yard, please consider adopting me. I may take a bit more work, but I will love you forever with a devotion that is unshakable. Let Ginger show
you how much you’ve been missing.

Our adoption process starts with an application. If you are interested in adopting this dog, please fill out this application.
The medical and custodial care of the many Cockers in our care is tremendous. More and more dogs are abandoned with urgent and serious medical issues. We are committed to providing the best possible care for these forgotten friends. Unfortunately, the mounting high costs are beginning to limit the number of dogs we are able to take into our program. Even if you cannot adopt or foster one of our current adoptable dogs, please consider making a donation. The Cocker Spaniel Adoption Center is a 501(c)(3) non-profit charitable organization and your donations are entirely tax deductible.
