Description: FUREVER HOME NEEDED!
I’m Benjamin or, as my current Foster Mom calls me, “Bennie.” My canine foster siblings are the JETS…. ha ha. Speaking of jets, I came to CSAC on an airplane from Connecticut. Okay, so it wasn’t a jet, but it flew pretty darn high. What’s wrong with keeping all four paws planted firmly on the ground??!! The pilot loved me so much (who could blame him?) that he wanted to take me home. But the nine cats, yes 9 cats wouldn’t hear of it, so here I am still waiting for someone to come along and make me their furever buddy. Besides, I kind of had my doubts about that whole deal. I just don’t think that would have worked for me because I just love chasing those fuzzballs (much different than furballs, by the by!) but they never seem to want to play. Even the squirrels run away from me….I just don’t get it. All I wanna do is have fun! Where is everyone’s sense of fun!!??
I was another one of those poor dogs found wandering the streets. Folks I’ve talked to say I must have been on the streets for a while because my fur was very long and matted. I felt badly for all those fleas that had to be evicted, but they were kind of itchy, ya know? My ears needed a good cleaning, too. CSAC and my foster mom took care of all of that for me and now I am sporting a new shiny black coat. Right now, I am a little bit shy and cautious around new people that I meet but anybody that comes into our home, I’m OK around because Foster Mom says; “It’s OK” and I trust her. I only bark when the others find something to bark at so I figure I might as well join. I politely wait my turn for the food, treats, and kisses that I’ve come to enjoy so much. Sometimes when my canine siblings are asleep in the family room, I’ll come over and snuggle with Mom on the couch - that’s our special time together. See, she has five foster dogs besides me and we have to share the attention. I don’t mind because we’ve all been in the same place, but it sure would be nice to have more of that attention for myself. When it’s time to go outside, I run so fast, it looks like I am sliding into second base. I slip and slide and then slam into the door if it’s not opened fast enough! Foster Mom says it’s so darn cute, not to mention goofy, and I like to make my people happy, so I smile back at her to let her know I think it’s fun too.
I’ve had all my vaccinations, I’m neutered, and I’ve been tested for both heartworm and Lyme’s Disease. I am happy to report that I don’t have either of those nasty problems. I have been examined recently and found that I need further evaluations regarding my sight, my hearing and my heart. My Foster Mom, with help from others who love me to pieces, are taking measures to see that I get the medical examinations I need to address these concerns.

Our adoption process begins with an application. If you are interested in adopting this or any of the other dogs on our website, please take a few moments to fill out the application now. We have a busy website, so one of the dogs you may be interested in now could already have an application pending approval. Don’t be left out in the cold – fill out an application now, and you can be pre-approved for the next “perfect” dog you see available. (Of course, we think ALL of our dogs are perfect, but we understand that adopters may have certain parameters based on their own circumstances, ie, kids, other dogs, cats, work schedule, etc.) The pre-approval process is the same as the adoption process, but with the benefit of being ready to go when your dog comes in. Often a dog won’t even make it to the website if we know we already have someone waiting in the wings who we know would be a perfect match for Fido. How simple is that for finding your new BFF (Best Furry Friend)??!!
The medical and custodial expenses of the numerous Cocker Spaniels in our care are tremendous. With the current economy, more and more dogs with urgent and serious medical issues are being abandoned. While we are committed to providing the best possible care for these luckless, voiceless dogs, the increased costs are beginning to take their toll on our ability to do so. What this means is that we are able to rescue fewer dogs, and in turn that means more dogs may be euthanized every day. Even if you cannot adopt or foster one of our dogs, please consider making a donation.
We know that money is tight everywhere, but even just a few dollars from many people adds up. Think of those dogs still in shelters or on the streets – those without warm beds, full bellies, and the knowledge that they are safe. For just the cost of a few cups of coffee, you can make a tremendous in the life of one of our needy furballs. For other ways to donate, please scroll to the bottom of our main web page.
The Cocker Spaniel Adoption Center is a 501(c)(3) non-profit charitable organization and your donations are entirely tax deductible.
