They don't come much sweeter than this precious girl. Angel is gentle, lovely female Cocker Spaniel mix. We are not sure what she is mixed with, although Afghan has been suggested! The shape of her face is indicative of that. Angel is also bigger than an average Cocker Spaniel. She weighs between 35 and 40 pounds. She has a long tail and a long coat like an Afghan, but her body is more like a Cocker. She is unique and beautiful.
This poor baby was nearly gassed to death at a shelter in Ohio. Yes, many shelters still use gassing as a means of killing surplus animals. It's horrifying to contemplate. I am very relieved that we found out about her and were able to help her. I certainly wish there were more rescues in Ohio.
I am told by one of her transporters that "Angel was aptly named by the shelter worker who sought to have her saved because she is very angelic! She is so friendly and loves to give kisses." Angel appears to love everyone. She is obedient, and she rides very well in the car. She particularly enjoys looking out the windows as the world goes by. Don't let the gray around Angel's eyes fool you into thinking that she is a senior citizen. Her eyes themselves do not look old, and we estimate her at six or seven years -- max. Her teeth are in good shape, though they need to be cleaned. We will have this done this week when she is vaccinated and spayed.
All in all, everyone who meets Angel thinks she is nothing short of amazing. I'm pleased to report that she is now fostering with a wonderful family in Baltimore, Maryland. She is great with other dog, and she loves everyone. Her foster mother tells me she has the best name because she is truly an angel.
